Xolotl as an alternative to Epivet

What Epivet is

Epivet has deep credibility with equine and rural vets, a French-language heritage that suits Wallonia, and a product shaped by people who do the work. If your practice is purely equine, they know that world well.

Their commercial model is a pack per species, available as a subscription or a perpetual licence.

A pack per species, or one price

Epivet sells a pack per species — canine, rural, equine — each available as a monthly subscription or as a perpetual licence, with a per-veterinarian component on top and the price rising as the species get larger. Xolotl has no packs: every species rides in the same registry at one per-veterinarian price, 79 EUR then 59 EUR then 39 EUR, capped at 390 EUR per site.

We do not print their figures here, because list prices change and a stale number is worse than none. Epivet publishes theirs; ours are on our pricing page, and the worked arithmetic is in what the software really costs.

Why packs matter for a mixed practice

A pack model is clean if your practice only ever does one thing. It gets awkward the moment it does not: the small-animal clinic that takes on a stable, or the rural vet whose farmers bring in their dogs, ends up buying up to the widest pack for work that is a minority of the caseload.

Xolotl has no packs. Companion, equine, farm, breeding and exotic are patient categories in one registry, each carrying its own fields, at the same price.

Where Epivet is the better answer

• You prefer a perpetual licence to a subscription — we only sell a subscription
