One patient registry for every species

Mixed practice is the normal case, not the exception

A lot of veterinary software asks you to choose a species pack at purchase. That is fine until the small-animal clinic takes on a stable, or the rural practice starts seeing the farmer's dogs.

Xolotl keeps one registry. A cat, a warmblood, a herd of dairy cattle and a tortoise are all patients, and each category brings its own fields rather than forcing the others into a shape that does not fit.

What each category brings

• Companion — microchip identification, vaccination history, growth curves with alerts
• Equine — foaling calendar, pre-purchase examinations, lameness workups, passport history
• Farm and livestock — ear-tag identification, herd-level records, group treatments and mass medication
• Breeding — reproduction records and cycles
• Exotic and other — the fields the species needs, without pretending it is a dog

The owner, the household and the herd

Animals belong to owners, owners belong to households, and on a farm the subject of the work is often the group rather than the individual. Xolotl models all three, which is why a mass medication on a barn and a vaccination on a kitten can both end up on a correct invoice.
