Batches, because the regulator counts in batches
A veterinary depot is not a stockroom of products, it is a stockroom of batches with expiry dates and traceability obligations. Xolotl tracks the batch from the purchase invoice that brought it in to the animal it was administered to.
Dispensing picks the batch by FEFO — first expired, first out — so the shelf empties in the order that wastes least, without anyone reading labels in a fridge.

Stock and the antibiotic register are the same event
When an antimicrobial leaves the depot, that movement is both a stock transaction and a registry line. Systems that keep the two apart make the practice enter it twice and then reconcile the difference at the end of the quarter.

Inventory questions
Can I scan to dispense from the consultation screen?
Scan-to-dispense sits on the inventory batches screen today, not inside the consultation. It is a real workflow, just not the one-screen version some marketing implies.
Does it track stock in the car?
Yes. Vehicle stock is a location like any other, and the field module knows what is in the truck when you are standing in a barn.
