Comparison

Xolotl as an alternative to VETCloud

VETCloud, from the Belgian company VetWorks, is a cloud-native suite with proper Belgian compliance behind it. The clearest difference is how support staff are priced.

What VETCloud is

VETCloud is browser-based, built in Belgium, and takes the local obligations seriously — VAMREG registration and Peppol e-invoicing in both directions are on their feature list. For a practice that wants a Belgian cloud supplier, it is a credible choice on the same terms we are.

On one point they are ahead of us today: they describe sending and receiving invoices over Peppol. Xolotl sends. We are not going to hide that behind a comparison table.

How the two price lists are shaped

VETCloud prices per veterinarian on a tapering scale, and assistants carry their own tapering per-seat line — the cost that grows with every hire. Ours is 79 EUR solo, 59 EUR each from two to five, 39 EUR from six, capped at 390 EUR per site, with support staff free at every tier and the first year free for new graduates.

We do not print their figures here, because list prices change and a stale number is worse than none. VetWorks publishes theirs; ours are on our pricing page, and the worked arithmetic is in what the software really costs.

Where the difference lands

Take a four-vet clinic with six support staff. On per-assistant pricing, those six accounts are a recurring cost that grows every time you hire. On ours they are free, which removes the quiet incentive to share a login — and a shared login is what turns an audit trail into a work of fiction.

Beyond seats, the differences are equine and farm depth, the offline field round with vehicle stock, and imaging being included rather than assumed.

Where VETCloud may suit you better

  • You need inbound Peppol invoice reception inside the practice system today
  • You are a small-animal-only practice and place no value on equine or farm workflows
  • You already run their integrations and they work for you

Questions

Are you both actually cloud?

Yes. Both run in the browser with no practice server. Xolotl additionally runs as a desktop app on clinic machines and installs to the phone for offline field work.
